2026 Quilt Show - Quilt Entry Information

Welcome!

We are excited to invite quilters of all skill levels to participate in the Wise County Quilt Guild Quilt Show! This section provides everything you need to enter your quilt, including rules, divisions, and entry forms.

Whether you are entering your first quilt or are a seasoned quilt show participant, we look forward to showcasing your creativity and craftsmanship.

Quilt Entry Rules & Guidelines

1. All entrants must either reside in Wise County or be a member of the Wise County Quilt Guild.

2. Non-members of WCQG: there is a maximum of two quilts per person and the entry fee is $20 per quilt. 

3. Members of WCQG: no limit for members and the fee is $5 for each quilt. 

4. Quilt Projects must fit into one of the Quilt Show Divisions. 

5. The Quilt Show Chair reserves the right to re-categorize entries if it is determined they have been entered in the wrong category. Categories may be consolidated if there are insufficient entries in a category. The Chair may refuse the entry of items that fail to meet entry criteria. Every effort will be made to communicate any change to the quilt maker. 

6. Quilts will be hung by clips (no sleeves required).

7. No quilt that was entered in the 2024 Wise County Quilt Show is eligible for entry this year. 

8. All quilts/other items must have been completed in the last two years. 

9. All quilts/other items must have the entry form pinned to it and placed inside a pillowcase. Quilts not in a pillowcase will not be accepted. Each quilt must have its own pillowcase. If you do not have a pillowcase we will have some available at drop off for a fee of $10. Fee is non-refundable.

10. Each entrant must fill out an entry form for each quilt.

11. ENTRY FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE – no exceptions.

12. All entry forms and payment must be postmarked or received by August 3, 2026. No late entries will be accepted.  

13. Payment can be made via check made out to Wise County Quilt Guild or Venmo @WCQGuild.

14. All quilts should be brought to the Texas AgriLife Extension office at 206 S. State St, Ste A, Decatur, TX on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, between the hours of 5 pm – 8 pm (no late drop offs will be accepted).  Early drop off can be arranged by contacting Carol Westerhout 847-736-6207.

15. Non judged quilts can be dropped off at the Women’s Building at the Wise County Fairgrounds 3101 FM 51, Decatur, TX on Thursday, August 20th between 6am and 10am but will only be displayed if space allows.

16. Awards may be given to 1stand 2nd place winners in each category. A Viewer’s Choice will be awarded at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Additionally, Judges Choice will be chosen by the Wise County Quilt Show Judges and awarded prior to the beginning of the Show. 

17. Quilts may be picked up on Saturday, August 22, 2026, between 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm(no early pick up). 

18. Entrants are responsible for insuring their entries. Every precaution will be taken in the care and handling of your entry, however Wise County Quilt Guild is not liable for loss or damage to your entry.

Quilt Divisions & Categories

100 –Challenge Quilt: (members only) Achromatic (Black, White, Gray only). Min 3 pieces of challenge fabric. No more the 100 inches around.

200 - Small Projects: Must be no greater than 200” around.

300 - Applique 

400 – Machine Embroidery 

500 – Hand Embroidery 

600 – Paper Pieced 

700 –Piecework 

800 - Machine Quilted: domestic

900 - Machine Quilted: longarm/free-motion

1000 - Machine Quilted: longarm/computerized

1100 –Hand Quilted 

1200 – Artistic Quilt: An art quilt is an original exploration of a concept or idea rather than the handing down of a “pattern”. It experiments with textile manipulation, color, texture, and/or a diversity of mixed media.

1300 – Junior Division:Entrants must be 16 and under

1400 – New Quilter Division:Entrants must have been quilting for less than 2 years.

Display only (non judged): This can be any quilt. We will display these quilts if space allows.
